Introduction
Welcome to the Hands documentation. Learn how to securely automate your local browser using powerful offline or BYOK models.
Hands is a next-generation autonomous browser agent that executes entirely locally on your machine. Unlike traditional cloud-based RPA (Robotic Process Automation) or AI agents that stream your DOM tree and authentication cookies to remote servers, Hands processes everything natively inside your Chromium environment.
Why Local Execution?
The modern web is filled with sensitive information - intranets, healthcare portals, banking dashboards, and proprietary SaaS platforms. By keeping the execution local, Hands ensures that:
- Zero Middlemen: Your workflow context travels directly to your chosen LLM provider. It is never routed through or intercepted by Hands servers.
- Session Security: Passwords and cookies never leave your machine because the agent piggybacks on your existing, secure local browser session.
- Zero Data Retention: The context is used by the LLM in the moment and then immediately discarded. We never log your DOM states, screen recordings, or proprietary workflows.
- BYOK (Bring Your Own Key): You maintain absolute control over the data pipeline by routing reasoning through your trusted enterprise accounts.
- Complete Transparency: All of what is happening is executed right in front of you on your own machine.
